Happy Friday everyone!
I hope you have had a restful week this week without any course commitments and are looking forward to starting LRNT 522 Introduction to Research: Critical Reading and Writing on Monday. You will be joined by the MALAT and DipLAT blended students who have just finished up The Link and are excited to be able to be part of this year’s offering, and to meet all of you!
In terms of our course, I wanted to provide you with a quick update on the marking progress on this end. The Assignment Three – Briefing Note assignments are complete and I am in the process of uploading them with my embedded feedback and assessment into Moodle. I will then be turning my attention to the final assignment as well as the learner contribution pieces and will get those back to you by Friday June 27th. I will send out a note when they are all uploaded and ready for you. Also, for any of you who were wondering, you can rest assured that you have nothing to upload for the contribution to the learning community “assignment” so you can officially count yourself as having completed LRNT 521 - well done!
One thing that I always like to flag for people is that initially, opening up an assignment filled with comments can be overwhelming and that’s okay. In our busy lives, the temptation is to scan to the assessment, close the document and add it to our list to “go back to” when we have time (smile). I would encourage you to make that time as soon as possible - much of the feedback provided will be useful as you move forward into the assignments in your next course and beyond.
As you head into your second course in your MA degree, taking some time to reflect on the process thus far, identifying what worked/areas that you would like to improve on or do differently in your flow as well as any new ideas that you are curious about will be time well spent. Research or field note journals are great for that. Continuing to evolve your blog as you further reflect, refine and consider what you would like your digital identity and digital presence to be in this space as you grow and learn and explore is also good work worth doing. It not only act has the ability to act as an inspiration and motivation for you when you hit a slump but it also allows you to contribute your knowledge to a larger community … and you just never know where those ripples will go (smile).
Okay, I think that is about it from my end right now. As always if you have any questions please do not hesitate to drop me a note and in the meantime, have a lovely weekend and be well.
