Hello\nEveryone \u2013<\/span><\/p>\n\n Today starts\u00a0the\u00a0<\/span>first week of Unit 3<\/span><\/a>,\u00a0where\nour focus is on ways of organizing for digital learning. As discussed at our\nlast synchronous session (slide deck attached), the main activity in Unit 3 is\nour debate, which begins formally on May 11\u00a0<\/sup>with initial\narguments posted by the Pro and Con teams kicking it off and then runs through\ntill May 18. I will create the threads for these first two arguments later this\nweek, but please wait until May 11\u00a0to post the initial pro and con\narguments. Once these are posted, I will create threads for the rebuttal posts.<\/span><\/p>\n\n As\noutlined in the\u00a0<\/span>Schedule\u00a0<\/span><\/a>on our course WordPress site, this first week of Unit 3 your tasks are\nas follows:<\/span><\/p>\n\n In addition, don't\u00a0forget to continue to\ncomment on others\u2019 blog posts - remember, the default setting on your blog is\nto \"moderate comments\" so if you have kept that setting on, you will\nneed to \"approve\" the comment before it can be seen on the blog site.\nJust a reminder to do this in a timely manner so folks who have commented can\nsee their comment and \"know\" it went through and they posted\ncorrectly.<\/p>\n\n Tips on\nthe Debate:<\/span><\/b><\/b><\/p>\n\n For\nthose of you who are already looking ahead to the Debate, here are some thoughts\nto consider. You have all been put into teams which you can find by going to\nMoodle and looking under Participants, My Teams.\u00a0<\/span>Here is the debate statement that we will be using for this year's\ndebate.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n Be it\nresolved that all digital learning environments are equal and can be created\nand managed as such.<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/b><\/p>\n\n In terms\nof flow for our debate, the Pro, Con and Judgment team\u00a0can connect to plot\nand plan in a way that works for your team \u2013 perhaps a google doc, one of the\ntools you used in The Link or in the\u00a0private team discussions\nforum\u00a0in the Moodle site. It is up to your team what works best for\neveryone.<\/span><\/p>\n\n When you\nconnect as a team, you need to have discussions about the key points that you\nthink are important to make by your side of the debate as a group, prior to the\ndebate going live. There is some time set aside in the\u00a0<\/span>Schedule\u00a0<\/span><\/a>to do this (May 04 \u2013 10) but you are welcome to have these conversations\nsooner. Don\u2019t forget, you can also always reach out to the RRU team coach associated\nwith your program if you think it would be helpful to connect on tips for\napproaching a team assignment. You can find more team resources on\u00a0<\/span>Teamwork here<\/a><\/span><\/u>.\u00a0<\/span>It is expected that the readings (Unit 2 & 3) completed to date in\nthe course as well as the Virtual Symposium will be drawn upon to inform the\nbacking and rationale for the arguments presented, but you are also encouraged\nto seek other relevant scholarly sources.<\/p>\n\n For the\nPro and Con teams<\/span><\/b>, after\nyou have met, discussed, and made a \"plan of attack\" as a group, you\nwill need to \u00a0create, edit, revise and post initial arguments and\nrebuttals according to the days\/times in the\u00a0<\/span>Schedule<\/span><\/a>.\n\u00a0Teams are each responsible for crafting their piece according to\nthe\u00a0<\/span>Assignment 2 requirements<\/span><\/a>\u00a0and posting them to\nthe\u00a0<\/span>Assignment 2 Debate Forum (Class) Debate Happens Here in Moodle\u00a0<\/a><\/span><\/u>according to the dates\noutlined in the\u00a0course schedule.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n If you are on the Judgement team<\/b>, your initial task is to determine what framework you will use to\nevaluate the debate - the rubric that is associated with this assignment is a\ngreat starting point for your conversations and you may decide that you need to\nreview other debate judgement frameworks to then determine what, how, and if\nyou will revise the rubric.\u00a0You will need to let us know what the\nrubric is that the judgement team is using to evaluate the debate by May 06.\u00a0You\ncan do so by posting a message in the\u00a0<\/b>Ask the Instructor forum<\/a><\/b>\u00a0in\nMoodle so that all will be notified.<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n
