I am now working on feedback for each of the teams and expect to have\nthis completed by middle of next week. If you have not yet submitted your Self\nand Team Assessment to the Assignment 2 Moodle drop box, please do so by the\nend of Wed, May 20.<\/p>\n\n<p>I am always curious to know how thoughts and opinions might\nhave changed as a result of engagement with the debate activity and look\nforward to some discussion on the topic at our synchronous session this evening\n- Tue, May 19. In the meantime, I have started a thread in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/moodle.royalroads.ca\/moodle\/mod\/forum\/view.php?f=147977\"><b>Debate\nDebrief forum<\/b><\/a>\u00a0for any thoughts or comments you may wish to share.\nDid you find any of the arguments presented sufficient to change your mind\nabout any aspect of digital learning environments? Is there a clear \u201ccorrect\u201d\nanswer\u2014or is it all about context?<\/p>\n\n<p><b>Moving on to Unit 4<\/b><\/p>\n\n<p>Starting today, we dive into Unit 4 of our course. Unit 4\nruns over the next two weeks and invites us to focus on the impact of digital\nlearning environments, networks, and communities as we take what we learned\nthus far in the course and apply it to larger issues.<\/p>\n\n<p>I know many of you have likely already reached out to\nschedule a team debrief session with our MALAT team coach which is great! The\nTeam Coaching group have developed many great resources in recent years,\nincluding the RRU Teamwork Competencies and Skills Framework, tips sheets for\ntransitioning teams as well as some resources for developing critical thinking\nin teams, which have all been added to our\u00a0Moodle shell\u00a0in a folder\ncalled\u00a0<b><a href=\"https:\/\/moodle.royalroads.ca\/moodle\/mod\/folder\/view.php?id=870806\"  rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Teamwork Resources\u00a0<\/a><\/b>and\nI encourage you to explore them and other team resources as you are\nable.\u00a0These will form a valuable foundation for the many team activities\nyou will undertake as part of your MALAT program.<\/p>\n\n<p>In addition to the Unit 4 readings, there are two activities\nin Unit 4, along with the currently running debate debrief discussion, and this\nevening\u2019s synchronous session. Be sure to check the course\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/malat-coursesite.royalroads.ca\/lrnt521\/schedule\/\"  rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><b>Schedule\u00a0<\/b><\/a>for\ndue dates:<\/p>\n\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n <li><a href=\"https:\/\/malat-coursesite.royalroads.ca\/lrnt521\/schedule\/unit-4\/#41\"  rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><b>Unit 4 Activity 1<\/b><\/a>\u00a0- which is a pair or\n     triad activity with the purpose of beginning to discuss some of the\n     impacts of digital learning. As outlined in the activity description, you\n     will need to use\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/13vR5XxqhoZgiybR8mhypTQAfDOrMGaBrACEDpW9D07M\/edit?usp=sharing\"  title=\"Google doc\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><b>this Google doc<\/b><\/a>, to pair up\n     (triads are fine if needed). Each pair\/triad should focus on a\n     contemporary societal learning problem as listed, such as poverty, racism,\n     lack of learning opportunities in rural areas, <b>or some other related topic\n     of your choice<\/b>. I am looking forward to seeing what emerges from your\n     work \u2013 please let me know should any questions arise.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p><b><i>Note<\/i><\/b>: While it is preferred that everyone work\nin pairs or triads where possible, I am open to individual completion of this\nactivity if there are timing challenges or if there is a specific topic you\nstrongly wish to explore, and no other participants are interested. Please\nstill go ahead and sign up under your chosen topic but drop me a note to let me\nknow why you have chosen an individual approach.<\/p>\n\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n <li><a href=\"https:\/\/malat-coursesite.royalroads.ca\/lrnt521\/assessment\/assignment-3\/\"  rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><b>Assignment Three<\/b><\/a>\u00a0- the briefing note\n     assignment is due\u00a0<b>Sun, May 31.<\/b>\u00a0In the assignment\n     description you will also see the link to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/12hCcCkPs4p-sCVNbx6BqyMSqiF2bbpWypasigVR0MLM\/edit\"  rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><b>Briefing Note google doc \"book\"<\/b><\/a>\u00a0that\n     has been built over the years by previous students. You are invited and\n     encouraged to share your briefing note to this book as well if you are\n     able when it is ready. The briefs contained in the google book represent\n     all aspects of the RRU MA grading continuum and may have ideas for\n     references or additional articles that might support a point you are\n     trying to make. There is also a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1CWyenjRKoz5xLqq-qvdc33bdVIpMpcb8uMRjPmjTccM\/edit\"  rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><b>briefing note FAQ's document<\/b><\/a>\u00a0linked from\n     the assignment description but I have put it here as well so you have it\n     handy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n <li><b>Tue,\n     May 19, at 5:30 pm PT<\/b>\u00a0is our final <b><a href=\"https:\/\/moodle.royalroads.ca\/moodle\/mod\/zoom\/view.php?id=870810\">synchronous\n     session<\/a><\/b> for the course. We will spend about 60-90 minutes together\n     this evening, depending on group needs, questions, discussion, etc. We\n     will start with a break-out\/large group debrief of our work and learning\n     thus far and conclude with an overview of the remaining course\n     assignments\u2014especially the briefing note.
