You will determine a work-based or life-interest learning need that might be solved, in part or in full, with a digital learning resource. The digital learning resource you decide on will form the foundation for your design assignments for this course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Toward this purpose, in this assignment you will conduct a human-centered needs analysis to learn from potential stakeholders (clients and learners that want or need a learning resource). An additional element toward fulfilling the purpose of the assignment will be the creation of three learning personas that represent what you have learned from interviewing prospective learners. The development of personas can be very helpful throughout the process of making applied design decisions and can empower you to consistently design with humans at the centre of your work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a written summary of your needs analysis process, you will share the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Your context (who are you, what is your current role or current professional goal, why is this learning need interesting or important to you)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The learning need you have identified (and your rationale: what is the learning need, who is for, why is it important, how do you know it&#8217;s important, who benefits?)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Information and needs you gathered from prospective learners (who did you ask, how did you ask them, what do learners need, what do other stakeholders need or want, how do learners prefer to learn?)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your preliminary intention for a digital learning resource that solves the learning need (what are you going to create)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What you believe you will need to find, learn, or practice in order to create an effective digital learning resources (what are your needs?)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This assignment helps determine your achievement of course Learning Outcome A \u2013 identify a need that can be met by a digital learning resource.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Instructions<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In this assignment, you will reflect and\/or consult with others in your work or life contexts to determine a learning need, a project that you can undertake to create a digital learning resource. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You will select an appropriate needs analysis method and engage in partnership with a group of potential users of the digital resource you have in mind.&nbsp; Elements of your needs analysis will build on the various design models and approaches experienced in LRNT 523 and LRNT 524. Depending on the human-centered analysis method that you choose, you may conduct interviews, share questionnaires, or engage in formal observations with potential learners.&nbsp; Based on the information gathered from your human-centered needs analysis, you will draft a proposal for a digital learning resource.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The deliverable for this assignment will consist of a written summary of your context, your process (the needs analysis), a description of the people you consulted to learn more about what was needed, knowledge you gathered from prospective learners, and the digital learning resource you propose. This summary should help stakeholders (clients, supervisors, or colleagues) to determine whether or not they believe the resource you propose will meet the learning need you describe. You will include three learner personas at the end of your summary that describe in detail the types of learners that will engage with the digital learning resource you intend to create for this course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your summary should be approximately 1500 words in length and your personas (3 unique personas) should feature a representative image of each learner and a detailed description of each learner&#8217;s needs grounded in your findings from interviews, surveys, or observations. This means that you will not have to apply to RRU on an individual basis before conducting your assignment research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You will need to read and become familiar with the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1JBIVC3ECwVB1NJH8iEfH5IppyYxJV1c7\/view?usp=sharing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Research Ethics Guidelines<\/a>\u00a0for this course.
