Welcome to LRNT524 – Innovation, Design and Learning Environments

Instructors’ Welcome

In this course, you will apply design thinking and a design thinking process to the creation of digital learning environments and examine how the use of empathetic design is consistent with the development of inclusive learning environments for social justice.

You will examine core Instructional Design (ID) theories, frameworks, models, and approaches that can support architecting effective digital learning experiences. You will consider the value of ID models and innovations, ID approaches for creating effective and engaging learning experiences for diverse learners, assessing learning needs from an empathetic lens, and evaluating the effectiveness of learning events, experiences, and training. You will apply design thinking and a design thinking process to the creation of digital learning environments and examine how the use of empathetic design is consistent with the development of inclusive learning environments for social justice.

A. Critically examine various design models and approaches used in the creation of digital learning environments.

B. Critically analyze user needs and experiences for digital learning.

C. Explain how innovation impacts the design of learning environments.

D. Propose a design solution to a problem.
