As you transition from collaborative work to individual reflection, take time to consider how your experiences throughout Assignment 2 have influenced your understanding of instructional design.

Reflect on the opportunities and challenges you encountered while working collaboratively, the decisions you made throughout the design process, and how your experiences may have challenged or reinforced your existing perspectives.

Consider how generative AI influenced your individual and collective design processes, including the opportunities, limitations, and ethical considerations associated with its use.

Draw on relevant course concepts and scholarly literature to critically examine your experiences and identify insights that may inform your future instructional design practice.

Questions for you to reflect on (Weeks 7-9)

  1. If I were designing learning or training, what would shape my ID approach?
  2. What do I believe about how people learn, and how might those beliefs shape my approach to designing learning or training?
  3. What principles or values would I want to guide my design decisions, and how might they influence the learning or training experiences I create?

Week 8-9 Activity: Design Principles

As you approach the final weeks of the course, you will synthesize your learning by developing a set of design principles that reflect your emerging identity and approach to instructional design.

Revisit your initial reflections on your design identity from Week 1 and consider how your understanding of learning and design has evolved. What do you now value most when designing learning experiences? How have your experiences with instructional design models, collaborative design, and generative AI influenced your thinking? What principles will guide your future design decisions?

As you develop your principles, consider how they might inform your practice across different learning environments, delivery modes, and learner contexts. Draw on your experiences throughout the course, relevant scholarly literature, and your emerging professional perspectives to articulate principles that are meaningful and applicable to your current or desired design context.

You have flexibility in how you communicate your design principles. Consider how your chosen format can effectively communicate your ideas while remaining accessible and meaningful to your intended audience.
