Hello Everyone and Happy Monday!
Welcome to our LRNT 523 course! I am so looking forward to reconnecting with
you, welcoming our Masters in Interdisciplinary Studies and Graduate
Certificate in Learning Designstudents to this course and working together over
the next 9 weeks. No doubt you have been exploring and meandering through
our course
WordPress site and my welcome video (scroll down) – ha! but I wanted to post here
so that you could see where the Instructor Posts are
on our course site. You will also find a copy of this message and my weekly
messages in the LRNT 523
Moodle Companion Shell News forum and they will be emailed to your RRU
email.
Getting Oriented:
1. Your first stop as you get oriented to the course should be the Schedule. I am sure you are getting into a groove with the LRNT ecosystem (course WordPress sites and the companion Moodle shell) but I just thought I would give a gentle reminder that you will want to review the schedule and map the due dates and activities against your work and personal calendars and commitments, ensuring that you have created time to do the work prior to the deadline. Past students have commented on the need to build in time for doing the work as well as completing an edit and revision cycle on your writing prior to submitting.
This first week of this course invites us to get to know each other and then asks us to dive into Weller’s writing as we orient ourselves in the field. In the screen capture below of the Schedule you can see that between today and Aug 30th we will be doing the following:
As with all our LRNT courses, even though our courses are in the WordPress environment, if you could please log into the LRNT 523 companion Moodle shell by Day 3 of the course that would be much appreciated as then the Registrar is able to know you are present ;)
Have a great week getting your bearings in the course and diving into Unit 1 and its activities! I am looking forward to seeing your creative approaches to Activity 1 over the next few days and will be checking in throughout the week. Many thanks to those of you who have already started to dive into this activity - it has been great to learn more about what makes you who you are and the gifts that you bring to this course.
You will notice my “out of office” message on this week as I am on a research retreat but please know, that is for everyone else – not you so if you have a question or notice a glitch, please don’t hesitate to let me know
Enjoy your week and I am looking forward to working together!
Ciao, Elizabeth
